Aliesha Phillips is a professional flautist, free-lancer, performer, educator, and teaching artist. She was the scholarship winner of Robert Dick's Contemporary Flute Week, provided by Flute Specialists. She has performed in various recitals, masterclasses, and orchestras. Some master classes include: Sir James Galway, Lady Jeanne Galway, Robert Dick, Patti Adams, Adam Weiss, Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, and many more.
Phillips was the winner of her undergraduate school’s Orchestral Concerto Competition and sat principal flautist in the USM’s Symphony Orchestra. As a result, she was awarded the prestigious Jay Dean Orchestral Scholarship. After graduation, Phillips received intensive instructional training at The New School of Music with the Imani Winds Chamber Ensemble/Festival, where she was awarded a full scholarship to attend the festival. She had the opportunity to network with many inspirational flute players and learned from various teaching strategies, which greatly shaped her musical realm.
In 2020, she received a very generous merit scholarship to study at Boston Conservatory at Berklee and at the Mannes School of Music | The New School. She is, indeed, no stranger to Berklee. She was accepted into Berklee College of Music in 2012 and in 2016 before the merge of the two conservatories. It has always been her dream to attend this world-renowned institution of music and to get the opportunity to network with musicians from all over the globe.
In 2023, she received her Master's in Flute Performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, under the direction of Professor Sarah Brady. During her time at the Boston Conservatory, Aliesha was granted the opportunity to teach Music History as a Teaching Assistant. The greatest joy of studying at the Boston Conservatory was the fact that she had the privilege of learning from world-renowned professional musicians, from all walks of life, that helped to shape her knowledge and interpretation of music. She loves music and plans to continue her education to one day receive her doctorate in Music Performance.
She is a member of the National Flute Association, where she was the recipient of a Full 2021 National Flute Association Convention Registration Scholarship for the 49th Annual NFA Convention. She enjoys learning from other beautiful musicians and constantly challenging herself to become a better artist. She is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, National Student Nurses Association, International Lion’s All-State Band, Mississippi Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Umoja Flute Institute, and Flute Xpansions.
